COPYRIGHT: Analog-Digital Hair
October 22nd

Copyright, diPietro Todd’s 3rd annual hair and fashion event was inspired by major musical genres, icons, and popular culture and how they influenced hair and fashion: Motown, Mod, 70's Stadium Rock, Glam Rock, Country, Disco/Funk, Punk, New Wave, Hip Hop, Electronic, Goth, and Modern Pop. In partnership with L’Oreal Professionnel and Westcoast Beauty Systems, this annual event was held at San Francisco’s Mezzanine on October 22. 500 guests attended the event, including Troy Maier and Andrew Bartfield of L'Oreal Professionnel.

Utilizing and exploring the most current cutting, coloring, and styling techniques, Copyright showcased a balance of work that took the audience from the gorgeous, afro-texture sets of Motown to the strong, geometric, round-balanced shapes and vibrant red-orange and black colors of Mod. The use of creative make-up and aggressive, lean, textured haircuts had a Glam Rock feel, while the Country section channeled the Grande Ole Opry with over-the-top, sultry, seductive upstyles. The Punk section featured short, graphic shapes and colors, while thatched hair cuts and dusty, high powered blondes marked New Wave. The funky braids of Hip Hop and the space-age hairstyles of Electronic made the audience want to jump up and dance on stage. The deep, dark dusty mauve and violet-based undertones gave the Goth section a theatrical feel.

"Copyright allowed us to bring together our eclectic staff and pull inspiration from their pasts with a futuristic approach," Andrew Todd.

This year’s show benefited The Hunters Point Family, a community-based organization that provides holistic educational, social, and enrichment programs to youth and their families living in the Bayview Hunters Point community of San Francisco. diPietro Todd brought the Bay Area hairdressing industry together for a rare opportunity to give back to the San Francisco community.
